Alan and his wife, Lil, have lived in the Shields Valley since 1979, where they began their ranching life with just a few animals. They still live on the same place, now operating a cattle ranch with one of their children, while the other works as a doctor in New York. Their grandchildren were born in Livingston and attend Park High. Alan is actively involved in the community, serving on the Wilsall Fire Department, the local Weed Board, and the Watershed group. He has served on the Park Electric Board since 2011 and represents Park Electric on the Board of Central Montana Electric Power Co-op, which supplies power to members through WAPA and Basin Electric. He values the opportunity to continue learning and working with dedicated people in the cooperative world.
